Our Cultural Responsiveness Training Program

The Australian Indigenous Psychologists Association (AIPA) offers a comprehensive, evidence-based Cultural Responsiveness Training (CRT) Program for Ahpra-registered psychologists. AIPA's CRT Program is designed to meet new cultural safety and awareness requirements in Ahpra's new Professional Competencies for Psychologists.

The CRT Program builds capabilities and skills in understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander social and emotional wellbeing, mental health, and cultural identity, and supporting the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. The CRT Program explores historical and contemporary issues affecting Indigenous communities, provides practical strategies for culturally safe and responsive practice, and fosters self-reflection to improve engagement with Indigenous clients and communities.

Delivery Format

The CRT Program is delivered in a blended mode. Participants will attend a 2-day face-to-face workshop delivered by AIPA's CRT program facilitators, and undertake additional learning online, pre and post the workshop.

Online learning will consist of pre-readings and pre-recorded webinars to help prepare attendees to fully engage in the workshop. It will also include readings and activities to be completed following the workshop and involve opportunities for self-reflection.

Note: A current Ahpra registration number will be requested and confirmed for all bookings in this training program.
